VENUE

The University of Milan is an established center for research on North Africa and an emerging hub for studies on Southwest Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. With a strong interdisciplinary and international outlook, its research spans from prehistory to the Medieval period, fostering collaboration across diverse fields and perspectives.

These strengths make it an ideal venue for the 8th edition of the Broadening Horizons conference, bringing together scholars to explore innovative approaches and expand the boundaries of research on these interconnected regions.

Travelling to Milan

Milan is well connected by rail, with major hubs including Milano Centrale and Milano Rogoredo stations. High-speed services operated by Trenitalia  and Italo, together with regional trains, provide extensive connections throughout Italy. International routes also link Milan directly to major European cities such as Paris and Munich. From these stations, the conference venue can be easily reached by metro and/or tram.

Milan is served by two airports: Milan Malpensa, which handles international and intercontinental flights, and Milan Linate, primarily used for domestic routes.

The conference venue can be reached directly from Linate Airport via the M4 (blue) metro line, getting off at the “Sforza Policlinico” stop. From Malpensa Airport, regional trains such as the Malpensa Express run ca. every 30 minutes to Milano Centrale station, from where local transport connections are available.

Bergamo Airport is often the most convenient option, especially for low-cost airlines. It is connected to Milano Centrale station by regular shuttle buses departing directly from outside the arrivals terminal.
